Youth Department
Our award-winning youth program has four separate groups for children in kindergarten through high school: Club Yeladim (K-2nd), Ruach (3rd-5th), Kadima (6th-8th), and USY (9th-12th). At Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah, we believe that providing an opportunity for our children to participate in a vibrant synagogue Youth Department plays an important role in Jewish continuity. We strive for our youth to demonstrate and experience the Jewish way of living through study, action, and fellowship in an experiential Jewish environment. All of our programs offer a range of cultural, social, educational, religious, Israel, and social action oriented aspects geared towards the needs and interests of the Jewish youth of each age group
Our commitment to the youth is evidenced by the continued support of youth activities supervised by a professional staff. Sarah Pila is our USY Director, working directly with high school students and supervising all youth programming at BHBE. , Brenda Cole is our Youth Advisor, developing and implementing programming for grades K-8. Brenda and Sarah have many years of experience working with youth of all ages, in classroom settings and beyond.
Club Yeladim and Ruach are unique to BHBE. Being a part of Ruach and Club Yeladim is a great opportunity to meet other Jewish youth from our community, and spend time playing, learning, and participating in social action projects. Kadima and Beth Hillel USY (BHUSY) are part of the International Jewish Youth organization sponsored by the Department of Youth Activities of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. In addition to chapter programming, Kadimaniks and USY’ers have the opportunity to participate in regional and international programs. BHUSY is one of 17 chapters in CHUSY (Chicago-area USY) region. Membership in our Youth Department is included in Academy tuition for the 2018-2019 school year. In-house programs will be free to attend for Academy students with a very minimal cost for those not affiliated with the Academy.
