Planning your Simcha

One of the first decisions you will make in preparing for your wedding is selecting a date. Please contact our clergy at 847-256-1213 to make certain that the dates and ceremony starting times you are interested in are available and are consistent with Jewish law and tradition. They will also be able to give you the approval to have your wedding at Beth Hillel Bnai Emunah. We can schedule all ceremonies in the synagogue and are happy to invite the participation of other Rabbis and Cantors. Our Rabbi and Cantor also are pleased to participate in your wedding ceremony at other appropriate locations.

Aufruf

On a Shabbat close to the wedding ceremony, the engaged couple is called to the Torah for an aliyah and rabbinic blessing. This is called an Aufruf. Many couples invite their family and friends to join them for this Shabbat honor and for the kiddush that follows; they often enhance or sponsor the Kiddush on this joyous occasion.
