Wednesday, January 15, 2020: Rabbi Crane’s morning Adult Ed Class, Introduction to Talmud. Join us at 10:00am to explore the Babylonian Talmud as a literary work, a historical phenomenon and the foundation of rabbinic Judaism. More dates to follow.
Thursday, January 16, 2020: Learn to chant with Cantor Roytman. Come to the Youth Lounge at 8pm for a fun and interactive way to learn the cantillation of the Torah. Ability to read Hebrew is required. All ages are welcome!
Friday, January 17, 2020: Shabbat Hamaalot. Come and join our singing circle for an elevated Shabbat experience at 6pm. This is a spiritual and engaging service for all.
Saturday, January 18, 2020: BHBE Film Festival. Let's meet in the Men's Club at 7:30pm to watch "Into the Arms of Strangers” (2000). Filmmaker Mark Jonathan Harris's Oscar-winning documentary tells the story of an underground railroad—the Kindertransport—that saved the lives of more than 10,000 Jewish children at the dawn of World War II. We'll have a stimulating discussion led by the engaging Jonathan Lehrer and unlimited popcorn, candy, soda, and hot drinks! $10 suggested donation to the Tikva Frymer-Kensky Adult Education Fund. This is the correct date of the festival.

Saturday, January 25, 2020: Camp Shabbat. The Shabbat morning service in the sanctuary will have a Jewish camp theme. Wear your camp shirts! Camp-style shira (singing)! Students speaking about their camp experiences, reading Torah, leading prayers! Camp-style kiddush! Tot Shabbat will meet, but everyone else will participate in the sanctuary. Camp honors and fun starts at the Torah service, so be there by a few minutes before 10!
Saturday, January 25, 2020: Noshed! Have you bought your Noshed tickets yet? Come join us for this battle of the chefs, where three of Chicago’s top kosher chefs will compete live to cook a creative dish out of a mystery basket of eclectic ingredients. Learn more about the chefs, judges, emcee, sponsors, and donors online and purchase tickets here. Friday, January 31, 2020: All Schools Shabbat. For families with students in grades K - 8. Join us at 6pm for a lovely musical service in the Men's Club, followed by a delicious dinner featuring Israeli cuisine! (Some dishes cooked by the Academy 7th grade.) Plus Shabbat Family Feud!
