Challah
Friday June 5th, 2020 Challah!
Cross buying a challah off your list! This Friday, June 5th, we are thrilled to offer the first 250 cars a challah to help you kick off the summer Shabbat season! Rabbi Crane, Cantor Roytman, Aaron Frankel, Michael Kahn and BHBE leadership will be on hand to wave as you drive through!
Please plan to drive by between 1 and 2:30 pm. Do not get out of your car. Enter our main parking lot at the north end of the building. Pull in front of door #1 (the door that leads to the coat room/Rotunda) and we'll be there with a challah and a much-needed "Shabbat Shalom"! Then please drive down the aisle, turn around and exit safely at the same place.
A volunteer, wearing a mask and gloves, will walk the challah to your car. Please wear a mask to protect us as you roll down your window.
We look forward to seeing you this Friday.

From BHBE Leadership
There has been no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our patterns of behavior and interact with others, life style and daily activities. With the stores closed and all non-essential businesses on hiatus, I know my closets have been the cleanest they have been in years. My garage is spotless!! Everybody seems to have had time on their hands to do the things they like to put off. Even as we begin to advance from out of our “hibernation”, we still have time to address projects not yet completed. One project that we started early during the period of seclusion, was the Names Project. The Names Project is designed to collect the English and Hebrew names of all family members under our umbrella of membership at BHBE. Everybody has an English name and everybody has a Hebrew name. We want to be one large family and everybody in the family needs to know your name. As we are in the season for membership renewal and as we transition our synagogue leadership, I will be turning over the Names Project to Cynthia Lerner who is the next VP for Ritual. I wish Cynthia Lerner the best of luck in her new position and I am committed to make this project a successful.
Over the past several months we have been trying to be inclusive and to reach out and communicate with all our members. Whether it was a call from Sisterhood to all our members or a call from a member on the executive board to the entirety of our membership or our outreach to the people who attend the Wednesday evening Town Hall meetings or to those who have been “Zooming” to meetings, classes and the like, I think we should be proud that our community has stayed connected. All these efforts are concrete examples of our success and how we maintain the viability of our synagogue life and to support one another. Continuing this momentum for the future when we are back to in house services and events, it is important to have everyone included by name so that we can use it for celebrations and honors during services. Please see the instructions accompanying this news letter regarding this important project. We all have priorities, but family should always come to the top. All people count!!! Thank you! Be well and be safe, Jay Goldstein

Connecting at BHBE!
We want to share your pictures and videos!
In an effort to enhance our sense of communinty during this period of COVID-19, we are putting together a montage of photos and videos. We are looking for photos of your family sheltering in place and/or videos of your family talking about BHBE (what you miss about BHBE and what you look forward to in the future). If you are interested in joining this project, forward your photo or video clip to: connecting@bhbe.org. Our plan is to share this in late June, around the time of our Gala.
Graduations!
Do you have someone in your family graduating this year? From graduate school, College, High School, Middle School, Elementary School or pre-school? If so, we want to hear all about it! Please email us!
