From BHBE Leadership
We often hear the COVID-19 pandemic environment described as unchartered waters and the new reality. These phrases may be overused, mundane and trite, but they necessitate a rule book being written and revised on almost a daily basis. My generation has been forced to develop an ever-expanding comfort level with the cyber world that is so intuitive to our children and grandchildren, but not to us. Starting with our Zoom seder which encompassed family and friends in several states to a myriad of Zoom classes that we now enjoy, we do have a new reality in these unchartered virus-infested waters. Whether it’s your spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical or creative spirit that needs nurturing and stimulation, there are many programs to address your needs. I am so appreciative of what BHBE’s clergy, lay leadership, office staff and membership have done to do just that. Zooming and streaming services and sermons, inspirational music, calling trees, academic classes, yoga, book groups, virtual social interactions and all other activities and programs help to fortify us in ways that are soothing, substantive and stimulating.
Like so many of you, we have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and graduations during these months. Social distancing from the birthday person with balloons and signs in hand while singing happy tunes wearing our masks and watching our granddaughter’s graduation via Zoom and streaming made me even more aware of the absence of human physical contact. Like every grandmother, I miss hugging and kissing our grandchildren and their parents. The BHBE community has lost that aspect of connection as well, but I am so impressed with how our leaders are carefully exploring ways to fill that void while remaining true to our basic beliefs and our need to be safe. Like you, I hope and pray for an end to the imposed or self-imposed distancing and isolation and I look forward to meeting, greeting and hugging my BHBE family. If that does not happen as quickly as I would like, I will continue to find comfort in all that BHBE is doing to address this pandemic; as it has remained committed to our needs, so, too, will Howard and I remain committed to our BHBE community. Until we can meet again in person at morning minyan, at services, during kiddush and in class, stay well and strong.

Connecting at BHBE!
We want to share your pictures and videos!
In an effort to enhance our sense of communinty during this period of COVID-19, we are putting together a montage of photos and videos. We are looking for photos of your family sheltering in place and/or videos of your family talking about BHBE (what you miss about BHBE and what you look forward to in the future). If you are interested in joining this project, forward your photo or video clip to: connecting@bhbe.org. Our plan is to share this in late June, around the time of our Gala.

The Israeli development that is hidden in Google's headphones, Amazon glasses
The Israeli DSPG has revealed that a chip it has developed is installed on Google's new Pixel Buds headset competing with Apple's AirPods, while another chip is integrated with Panasonic's new headphones. From Google Translation to Noise Canceling - these are the features that chips from Israel bring to your ears.
After Amazon, Facebook and Samsung, the Israeli DSPG shows significant collaboration with Google . Ynet reveals the company's CEO, Ofer Elyakim, that chip artificial intelligence (AI), an innovative company developed an integrated Pixel Buds 2, wireless headsets Google news this week out of the stores. "For us this is very big win, also at the strategic level and at the level The technology that is in the chip."
Initial comparisons between Google's headphones and Apple's AirPods headset, the market leader, predict that Google will be able to take significant market share from Apple this time, after failing in its previous attempt to do so. If the $1 million sales projections come true, it will also be significant revenue for the DSPG that you will receive about two dollars for each pair of headphones sold.
Elyakim finds that DSPG has entered the field of wireless headphones with a number of new chipsets, and with strategic agreements with both Google and Japanese Panasonic, which is currently facing the Japanese market with the headset of the market leader, Sony. "Panasonic is very excited about the results they are seeing in the markets," he said, who are now setting up a next-generation headset production line and will be launching the product in October-November. For us it is a significant writer. It's a strategic customer and Panasonic has paved the way for us to work with another large number of customers
The tiny chip integrated into the Google headset, less than its weight, is responsible for the artificial intelligence capabilities of the product. Elyakim explains: "There is a whole range of smart signal processing here that is centered on machine learning algorithms. The headphones are very smart, loud and do not need to be touched. They are constantly listening and waiting to hear the voice command. They also listen to the environment and noises. They absorb it and increase the volume of the sound." In addition, the headphones monitor jaw movement to detect speech and adjust the degree of background noise reduction. Earlier , Ynet reported that a DSPG chip was also incorporated into Amazon's smart glasses, which have so far been released as a beta product for Amazon Prime customers. Elyakim says that this October, Amazon will begin aggressively marketing the glasses, including collaborating with optics and designer networks. Here, too, market expectations are for large-scale sales, which predicts additional revenue for Israeli society.
