BHBE Volunteer Crew Update
Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the BHBE Volunteer Crew, we have assisted numerous congregants with shopping and other assistance. As a reminder, if you are in need of support, please email Karen Thirman at kthirman@gmail.com or contact the BHBE office at 847-256-1213 and leave a message. We will coordinate your needs with our list of amazing volunteers.
BHBE Nominating Committee
Every year at this time, a Nominating Committee is assembled to identify candidates to serve on the BHBE Board of Directors. At the annual meeting (at the end of May), members of the congregation will vote on the slate of candidates proposed by the committee. People who wish to be considered should contact the Nominating Committee via the Executive Director by this Friday (April 24th).
Congregational Survey
Dealing with shelter-in-place can be difficult. We are impressed with the efficiency and effectiveness of our clergy and staff as they moved our religious services online. We are wondering if, and how, people want more engagement from our wonderful BHBE community.
Approved for experiment: An Israeli owl test to detect Corona in a minute
Israeli companies Nextx and Scentech have been granted permission to start a clinical trial at Meir Hospital, which will test the state-of-the-art test for corona patients. Results will be obtained in a minute.
The test is similar to the police owl test that allows the detection of ethanol in the blood (Corona Virus) and the disease it causes, and enables diagnosis of the disease in a short period of time.
Dr. Keren-Or Amar, director of clinical research at Scentech Medical, explains: "The goal is that within a few seconds of receiving the air sample in the owl, we will know if the patient is ill in Corona, even if he or she has no symptoms at this stage."
