BHBE Volunteer Crew Update
Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the BHBE Volunteer Crew, we have assisted numerous congregants with shopping and other assistance over the past week. As a reminder, if you are in need of support, please email Karen Thirman at kthirman@gmail.com or contact the BHBE office at 847-256-1213 and leave a message. We will coordinate your needs with our list of amazing volunteers.
A Word From Our Leadership
Good news is welcome at this unsettled and challenging time. Elaine Loseff has been a beloved and devoted member of our shul community for decades and has made an extraordinary gift to our synagogue. It is with great pleasure we announce the establishment of the Dr. Herbert and Elaine Loseff Cultural Center at BHBE. This is a $200,000 gift paid over 5 years intended to support educational and cultural activities in our synagogue. We look forward to using support from the Dr. Herbert and Elaine Loseff Cultural Center to develop exciting new educational and cultural activities. This will enhance BHBE's programming and provide meaningful experiences and connections for all our congregants. We are so grateful that Elaine has chosen to support BHBE in this way.
Yom Hashoah
Monday evening, April 20th, will begin our yearly remembrance of Yom Hashoah. Due to the current circumstances in our world, we will not be able to gather as a community to remember. The Adult Education Committee is putting together a short film that you will be able to watch at home to mark this solemn day. The video will be sent out on Sunday, April 19th to ensure that you have it in time and please make arrangements to have a memorial candle ready to light. We may be in our separate homes, but together we will remember the victims and honor the survivors of the Shoah.
Academy
Our Academy families have been busy this last month, only in a virtual capacity, exploring Hebrew and Jewish values and tefillah and Passover, and keeping their connections solid with their friends, classmates, teachers, and our BHBE community. This coming Sunday morning I will be sharing a link to the Virtual Video Mock Seder, a twenty minute video experience, structured like a Seder, composed of creative homemade videos by our BHBE students and families, along with Zoom tidbits of the kids singing and chatting about Pesach. This way our families and students can help you celebrate!
Wishing you all a Chag Pesach Samecah -- a very Happy Passover.
